Mr. Cabral graduated
from Southwest Missouri State University, now Missouri State University,
with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Media: Film Studies and Production.
While in college he began his career working on local access cable
television programs moving his way up with nationally syndicated
television, local and regional commercials and short and feature length
films.
Since graduating
college, he worked as a production technician, director and the
commercial photographer at KSPR TV - Springfield 33. He also began
volunteering at the Sundance Film Festival and even attended the
Sundance Producer’s Conference. Since moving back to St. Louis in 2002
he has worked on a variety of projects and began volunteering for the St.
Louis International Film Festival.
In 2003 he officially
formed his production company, ACE Films, and has produced several short
films for the 48-Hour Film Project, one even won Best Directing for the
2005 48-Hour Film Project - St. Louis. At the end of Summer 2005, he
produced, directed and shot his first Feature Film, Spiral, which
is still being worked on.
So far in 2008, he
worked on The Thacker Case in Alton, IL; For Pete’s Sake,
formally Holiday Baggage, in Chicago, IL; Confined in
Cool, CA; and Pinks: All Out in St. Louis, MO. He also continues to
be a Volunteer Manager for the Sundance and St. Louis International Film
Festivals, as well as work on a variety of projects in St. Louis both
with ACE Films and other local production companies.
Aside from working in
the film and video production industry, Mr. Cabral was recently one of the
two hosts of PrimeTime with Mark and Tone, a weekly Entertainment
Talk Show on 89.5 FM KCFV in St. Louis, MO which ran from August 2007
until May 2008. He is also producing and directing his first
documentary, Small Town Boy, Real American Hero. The film
takes a look at what it means to be a Hero in America while focusing a
one young Marine who paid the ultimate price and how he fits that
definition.
